Police are appealing for information following a serious sexual assault and are urging the public to remain vigilant.
Officers are investigating an incident in which a woman was seriously sexually assaulted in Forest Road West, near Nottingham Arboretum, around 1.40am on Sunday (6 September).
Specialist officers are supporting the victim, and extensive enquiries are underway to identify and locate the person responsible.
Anyone with information that could help detectives identify the offender are asked to come forward.
The suspect is described as a man in his 20s or 30s with short black, wavey hair. He was clean-shaven, around 5’6″ tall and of a regular build. He was wearing a light-blue top with dark trousers and trainers.
Detective Inspector Rachel Mayfield, who is overseeing the investigation, said:
“This was an extremely serious and distressing incident, and our thoughts remain with the victim as she continues to receive support from specially trained officers.
“We understand that news of this offence will cause concern within the community, and we want to reassure residents that a dedicated team of detectives is working tirelessly to establish the full circumstances and identify those responsible.
“We are asking anyone who was in the area at the time, or who may have seen anything unusual or suspicious, to come forward. No matter how insignificant the information may seem, it could prove vital to our investigation.
“This incident took place a short distance away from Nottingham Arboretum and we would ask anyone using the park to remain aware of their surroundings and report anything that gives them cause for concern.”
