Safety concerns raised after two collisions at a West Bridgford junction

Safety concerns have been raised over a West Bridgford junction after two collisions were reported within two days.

A resident contacted West Bridgford Wire about the junction of Trevor Road and Stamford Road, raising concerns about vehicles being parked close to the junction and the effect this may be having on visibility.

The resident said builders’ vans had been parked close to the edges of the junction and questioned whether additional safety measures, such as parking restrictions, double-yellow lines or other highway changes, could be considered.

They said: “There have been two really nasty accidents there in the last two days, largely because builders are parking their vans right up to the edges of the junction.

“This has always been a dangerous junction but this week just shows why something needs to be done as soon as possible.”

West Bridgford Wire raised the concerns with Nottinghamshire County Council.

The council said the matter would be flagged urgently with Via East Midlands, which manages highways services on its behalf.

A council spokesperson said that the matter has been flagged it with Via East Midlands as ‘Urgent’ and that the official report as well as accident investigations will also put the junction at the top of the list.

Further details are therefore expected once the matter has been considered by highways officers and information relating to the recent collisions has been reviewed.
