A woman has died following Nottingham house fire – attempted murder arrest

A woman who was taken to hospital after a fire in Nottingham has died from her injuries.

Emergency services were called to the blaze at a terraced bungalow in Forster Street, Radford on Friday 1 March just after 5 pm.

Izabela Chalastra (pictured) was taken to Nottingham City Hospital with critical injuries. The 46-year-old died six days later on Thursday 7 March.

A 62-year-old man arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following the fire remains on police bail.

Detectives investigating the incident are continuing to appeal for the public’s help, especially anyone who has any mobile phone or dash cam footage before or after the fire broke out.

Detective Inspector Craig Hall, who is investigating the incident, said:

“These are tragic circumstances and our thoughts and condolences are with Izabela’s family at this unimaginably difficult time.

“We are continuing to work extremely hard to build up a picture of what happened and have spoken to a number of people as part of our investigation.

“However, we are aware that some people had captured the incident on their mobile phone and we really need those people to come forward.

“Anyone with dash cam footage from the area before, during or after the fire broke out are also being urged to come forward.

“We are satisfied this was an isolated incident and there is no risk to the wider public.”

Anyone with information or has any mobile phone or dash cam footage from the incident are being asked to contact 101 quoting incident number 0584 of 1 March 2024 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
