Transport `Nottingham says that this scheme will improve access to Colwick Country Park from the west and improve existing paths in the park itself.
The scheme involves the construction of a new multi-use path on Racecourse Road to improve access into Colwick Country Park; a new multi-use path on an existing informal path through the park, to improve access from the west for pedestrians, wheelchair users and cyclists; and the widening/resurfacing of the existing paths around West Lake.

Construction of 410m of new 3m wide multiuser path adjacent to Racecourse Road and into Colwick Country Park to connect to an existing bridleway into Colwick Country Park off Racecourse Road.
- Resurfacing of the existing path
Resurfacing works to the existing bridleway into Colwick Country Park.
- Widening and resurfacing of the existing path
Resurfacing/widening works to bridleway in Colwick Country Park around West Lake.
Scheme cost and funding
The scheme is being funded by the Government’s Transforming Cities Fund (TCF) and European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
Scheme duration
Work on the scheme is starting on Tuesday 20 September and is expected to be completed by the end of February 2023. The park will remain open to users during construction and the works will be phased to minimise impacts to users.

February and March
Stage 1
From Monday, January 30Â the section of the path shown in red on the map below will be closed for 3 weeks to allow widening and resurfacing to take place. During the works please use the alternative route shown in yellow.
Stage 2
From Monday 20 February, subsequent sections of the path (the blue dashed line) will be widened and resurfaced. During the works please use the alternative route on the grass adjacent to the path, staying well clear of the works area.
