Officers have arrested two teenagers in under 30 minutes after receiving a report of two boys brandishing machetes in the street.
The incident came into Nottinghamshire Police’s Control Room at 12.43pm on Wednesday 3 September.
Firearms officers were deployed to the scene near Green’s Mill Park in Sneinton.
Two men, aged 17 and 18, matching the descriptions given were found close by and arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon.
A machete was also seized. Both teenagers remain in police custody.
Superintendant Chris Pearson, City Commander, said:
“As you would expect, we take every report of this nature extremely seriously and immediately deployed firearms officers to the scene.
“Within 25 minutes of the call coming in, we had deployed our firearms officers, searched the area and located two suspects and seized a dangerous weapon.
“Let me be clear – if you think you can carry weapons on the streets of Nottingham or Nottinghamshire then we will do everything we can to find you, as this result shows.”
