Arrests after motorbike stolen from a Wilford Lane gym

A police dog helped track two suspects in a theft and retrieve a stolen motorbike.

PD Wolf, his handler and a response officer all combined to make the double arrest.

This came within minutes of police receiving reports that a motorbike had been stolen in Wilford.

The vehicle was reportedly taken from outside a gym based on Wilford Lane on Thursday (19 February).

The report came in around 7.55pm, with response officers duly dispatched to search the area soon afterwards.

A pair of suspects were placed in handcuffs by 8.19pm after PD Wolf and a PC from the dog unit joined the search.

Accompanied by a response officer, they spotted two people in The Downs, Wilford, and ordered the suspects to stop.

When one of the individuals then ran away, PD Wolf was deployed after him and detained him until his handler arrived.

Two men, aged 18 and 19, were duly arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle.

A suspected stolen motorbike was also found and recovered nearby by officers in attendance.
Chief Inspector Andy Reynolds, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:

“This was a great example of our Response and Operational Support teams working together for a positive result.

“In this case, the officers managed to recover a suspected stolen motorbike and track down a pair of suspected thieves too.

“When one of the individuals then tried to make a run for it, PD Wolf did a great job in ensuring he didn’t manage to get away.

“As I say, these two arrests really showcased the effectiveness of our different policing teams working in tandem.”
