Clifton: Trial date set for suspect charged with murder of Jonathan Dittia

A trial date has been set for a man charged with the murder of a 40-year-old-man in Clifton.
Emergency services were called to Eddleston Drive, Clifton, around 8.30pm on Tuesday (17 September) where they found a man with serious injuries.

Jonathan Dittia, aged 40, was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later despite the best efforts of police officers and paramedics.

A suspect was arrested at the scene.

Caine Lonsdale, aged 34, of Lerwick Close, Nottingham, was later charged with murder.
A trial date has been set at Nottingham Crown Court for March 10, 2025, and is likely to last around two weeks.

Nottinghamshire Police has referred itself to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) due to past involvement with the victim and suspect. A decision on whether the IOPC will investigate the matter has not yet been determined.

Detective Chief Inspector Ruby Burrow, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:
“We have kept the family well informed throughout the investigation and they continue to be supported by specially-trained officers.”
