A driver has been arrested on the A46 in Rushcliffe after police intercepted a vehicle linked to a suspected fuel theft in Lincolnshire.
Rushcliffe response officers, supported by Nottinghamshire Police’s Operational Support team, stopped the vehicle overnight into Wednesday 21 October after receiving information about its movements.
Officers used tactical pursuit tactics to bring the vehicle to a stop on the A46, where the driver was arrested on suspicion of theft, going equipped for theft and driving while disqualified.
The arrest was among several policing activities highlighted in an update issued by Rushcliffe Police.
In a separate operation on Tuesday 20 October, officers executed a search warrant at a property in Ruddington as part of an ongoing Trading Standards investigation.
The warrant was led by Trading Standards, with police officers attached to the service and Nottingham’s City Neighbourhood Policing team involved in the search.
Illicit tobacco was seized from the premises, along with other evidence relevant to the continuing investigation.
Police have not disclosed the quantity of tobacco recovered or whether any arrests were made during the operation.
Rushcliffe Police said burglary and rural theft remained two of its policing priorities, with officers continuing to carry out targeted patrols and enforcement activity across the borough.
The force said officers were working alongside county and regional policing teams, with deployments informed by reported offences and intelligence provided by local communities.
Police also highlighted plans for the new Neighbourhood Rural Crime Team to begin targeting offenders operating in Rushcliffe and surrounding areas.
The team will work alongside existing resources, including Operation Eclipse and Operational Support officers, to tackle rural offending.
The latest update follows the announcement of a dedicated rural crime team based at Ollerton Police Station, comprising four officers who will focus on offences including farm machinery theft, poaching, fuel theft and damage caused by off-road vehicles.
