A drug dealer has been jailed after officers found heroin and crack cocaine on his houseboat.
Wayne Pegg was stopped by police while driving a Mercedes at Redhill Marina in Ratcliffe on Soar on 10 November.
Several mobile phones including two Nokia burner style phones were found in the car and a set of keys were discovered in Pegg’s pocket.
The keys were for a houseboat moored at the marina and owned by Pegg which officers then searched as part of their investigation. Inside the boat, class A drugs were found including heroin and crack cocaine as well as plastic reseal bags.
Checks on the mobile phones seized found mass marketing messages relating to the sale of drugs.
Pegg was arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of Class A drugs and subsequently charged.
The 24-year-old of Duchess Way, Derby, admitted the offences and appeared at Nottingham Crown Court for sentence on 17 December when he was jailed for 31 months.
Detective Sergeant Sarah Parkin, from our Organised Crime team, said: “Drugs have a massive impact on our communities and we are committed to doing all we can to disrupt the supply of them and ensuring those responsible for the sale of drugs are brought to justice.
“Pegg was found with quantities of class A drugs as well as other items relating to the sale of heroin and cocaine and it is clear he had been operating a supply business for some time.
“Dealers such as Pegg are not welcome in Derbyshire and will be dealt with promptly and efficiently.
“We would ask anyone in our communities who suspects someone of dealing drugs to please contact us and let us know. Let’s work together to get dealers such as Pegg off our streets and behind bars where they belong.”
