Fire service warning after tipper lorry overturns on wet roads dumping ballast on car

Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service attended the incident on Tuesday 30 January on the B676 Melton Road near Six Hills off the A46.

The tipper lorry overturned on the wet road surface and dumped a full load of ballast onto an oncoming car.

A spokesperson said:

‘Today we attended a road traffic collision with, Leicestershire fire and Rescue service- Melton Mowbray Fire Station, and Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service Southern Station, involving a tipper lorry full of ballast and a car.

‘The lorry had overturned shedding its load onto the oncoming vehicle.

‘The Fire service worked alongside the Police, East Midlands Ambulance Service and Your Local Air Ambulance WNDLR to free the vehicle and casualty.

‘They were then taken to Hospital.

‘Please take extra care when driving on wet and slippery roads.’
