Green Meadows announces the return of their much-anticipated FREE family annual event, dedicated to celebrating community action on climate change.
Taking place on Saturday, September 14th, this year’s Green Meadows Festival promises a day full of activities, learning, and fun at the Queens Walk Recreation Ground from 12 PM to 4 PM.
Now in its fourth consecutive year, the festival has become a beloved tradition in the Meadows, offering something for everyone. Attendees can expect a lively atmosphere with a range of family-friendly activities, insightful talks, live music, and, best of all, free food.
The Green Meadows Festival is more than just an event—it’s a celebration of green living and a call to action for local and national climate initiatives. The festival aims to equip attendees with practical skills and knowledge, empowering them to contribute to climate resilience in their own community.
This event is organised by Green Meadows, a local initiative delivered by Nottingham Energy Partnership and Meadows Ozone Energy Services (MOZES) and backed by the National Lottery Community Fund.
Together, these organisations are committed to helping the Meadows community take meaningful steps toward tackling climate change and fostering sustainable practices.
Festival-goers will have the chance to explore various workshops and activities, all designed to promote positive climate action and sustainability.
Whether it’s learning about energy conservation, engaging in hands-on workshops like wind turbine building and natural dyeing, or enjoying creative activities like graffiti art, there’s something for everyone! Highlights include a foraging session with the Nottingham Forager, free bicycle repairs from Cycle Saviours, and a youth football tournament hosted by Notts County Foundation.
The event will showcase a series of engaging talks, including presentations by Green Meadows community and a Climate Assembly. With talks relating to home retrofitting, attendees will also learn about practical ways to save money by making their homes and lifestyle greener.
In addition to the entertainment, Green Meadows and Nottingham Energy Partnership will be on site to provide valuable advice on improving home energy efficiency and reducing fuel bills, along with information on available grants and support programs.
The Green Meadows Community will also showcase their initiatives, including Community Composting, the Butterfly Project, and the Growing Group—all aimed at protecting the local environment and fostering community-led solutions to climate change.
Conveniently located in the heart of the Meadows, the festival is easily accessible by public transport or bike.
They encourage attendees to leave their cars at home and enjoy a green commute, with options including the Queens Walk NET tram stop, bus routes 11, 11C, 48, and 48X, or a short walk from Nottingham Railway Station.
