Susan Entwistle, a leading Nottingham-based artist, has opened her first gallery in Nottinghamshire.
A contemporary pointillist artist capturing the natural landscape, Susan’s artistic practice uses the technique of layering dots of paint to create incredibly rich and detailed works that capture the vibrancy and essence of gardens, woodlands, and coastal landscapes.
Susan said: “I am inevitably drawn towards the natural environment, whether it is woodland, park, garden, or the trees and flowers within those landscapes. My paintings reflect this love and bring nature into someone’s space.”
The gallery, in Susan’s home village of Tollerton, will showcase her work alongside that of other artists and makers whose work is inspired by the natural world.
“It has been my ambition to open a gallery in the East Midlands for a long time, so it was fortuitous when an opportunity arose right here in Tollerton. It has been an exciting journey to turn the space into a contemporary gallery and studio, and an enjoyable process to see the vision become a reality.”
Susan exhibits her work widely at flagship events in the horticultural calendar, including the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) shows at Chelsea and Wisley Gardens. Susan has undertaken many commissions, including painting the Monaco garden for HSH Prince Albert of Monaco and creating large three-dimensional pieces for the Fabergé Big Egg Hunt in 2012 and 2025.
Based in the heart of Tollerton village, opposite the community-owned Air Hostess pub, Susan also intends for the gallery to be a hub for local events: “It is really important to us that the gallery integrates into village life and that we are able to support the arts and artistic practice within schools.”
The gallery is open to the public from 10 am on Saturday, 2 November, and will be open each week Tuesday to Saturday, 10 am – 6 pm, Sunday 10:30 am – 4 pm, and Monday by appointment only.
