Lenton: Image released after attempted shop robbery

Nottinghamshire Police has issued an image of a man they would like to speak to in connection with an attempted theft and criminal damage in a shop.

Police say that suspect tried to steal tobacco from the shopkeeper’s hand and then threw stock from stands all over the shop floor before leaving empty-handed.

The incidents happened at a convenience store in Montpelier Road, Lenton, just after 6am on 9 October 2023.

PC Eliot Meynell, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “The offender in this instance clearly had absolutely no regard for the shop staff or the damage caused.

“Retail crime has a significant detrimental impact on local businesses which are imperative to the community so it’s appalling to hear when they have been targeted.

“To assist us with our inquiries, we’re keen to hear from anyone who may recognise the man pictured as we believe he may have information which could aid us with our investigation.”

If you are this man, or know who he is, please call Nottinghamshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 86 of 9 October 2023, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Alternatively, you can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
