Police arrested three teenagers and recovered a machete from a river after a disturbance in a Nottingham street.
Officers were called to Stock Well in Bulwell, around 2.50am on Sunday (20 September) following reports that a group were fighting with weapons.
A man, aged in his 20s, was found to have suffered stab wounds and was taken to hospital with injuries which are not life-altering or life-threatening in nature.
It was also discovered that the front door to a property in the street had been damaged and a second victim had been threatened with a knife.
Officers carried out a search of the area and, after a foot chase, arrested a suspect nearby.
A second suspect headed towards the River Leen, where he was detained and a machete was later recovered from the water.
Following further investigations, a third teenager was arrested at an address a short time later.
Three boys, aged 15, 15 and 17, were arrested on suspicion of committing grievous bodily harm and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.
The 15-year-olds were also arrested on suspicion of causing criminal damage and possession of a Class B drug after cannabis was discovered during searches.
Detective Sergeant Christophe Sutton, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:
“We believe the group were attempting to interact with people within the property.
“They became aggressive when they weren’t allowed in and other members of the public intervened.
“One man suffered knife wounds which could have been even more serious.
“As we see too often, the decision to go out into the street carrying a knife puts both you and the other people you come into contact with at greater risk of harm.
“The officers in attendance worked quickly and efficiently to arrest three suspects and recovered a machete after wading into the river.”
