Man arrested after laptops and passports stolen in school burglary

A man has been arrested after an array of items were stolen from a Berridge school.

Backpacks full of personal items, laptops and passports were reported missing from Bluecoat Trent Academy, Pelham Avenue.

It’s believed the items were taken between 7-9pm on 3 December.

Following a CCTV trawl, a suspect was recognised by local officers and detained on Wednesday (10 December).

A subsequent search of the suspect found cocaine and cannabis in his possession.

A 41-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of burglary, recall to prison, possession of Class A and Class B drugs.

PC Lewis Orrill, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:

“Burglary can be very upsetting for victims and that is why we work tirelessly to gather evidence and track down the people responsible.

“I am pleased we were able to arrest a suspect for this offence, and as the investigation continues, I’d encourage anyone with information to call the police on 101, quoting occurrence number 25000708644.”
