A man remains in police custody after he was arrested at the scene of a burglary thanks to the quick thinking of a concerned member of the public and an immediate response from the police who answered their call.
Nottinghamshire Police were called just after 7.20 pm on Friday 22 May to a report of suspicious activity at a residential property in Ransom Road, St Ann’s which is currently undergoing renovation works.
Officers launched an emergency response to the incident and travelled to the scene on blue lights within minutes where they arrested a 46-year old man at the scene on suspicion of burglary.
Inspector Craig Nolan from Nottinghamshire Police: “Burglary is a priority for Nottinghamshire Police and we can’t stress enough how important it is for the public to be on their guard when it comes to home security.
“A quick response makes all the difference in cases like these and we can’t be more grateful to the member of the public who acted quickly to report their concerns which ultimately helped our officers to respond to this incident as quickly as they did.
“Our teams made an arrest at the scene and that man remains in police custody this evening, which means our investigation will now focus on understanding the circumstances surrounding the original report.”
