Man charged after two stabbed in Nottingham city centre

A man has been charged following an altercation that led to two men sustaining stab wounds in Nottingham city centre.

The altercation took place in St James’s Street shortly after 2.30am on Sunday (28 June). It began outside Fusion Sports Bar and continued on the street towards The Roebuck Inn.

Police and paramedics attended and two men aged 22 and 27 were taken to hospital. The 22-year-old man sustained serious injuries and remains in hospital. The 27-year-old man received treatment for two lacerations and was later discharged.

Three men aged in their 20s were arrested on suspicion of affray shortly after the incident, while the 27-year-old was also arrested on suspicion of affray following his discharge from hospital. All four suspects have since been bailed with strict conditions while the investigation continues.

Meanwhile, a fifth suspect has been charged following his arrest yesterday (Monday 29 June). Lamarey Morgan, 22, of Ewart Road, Forest Fields, Nottingham, appeared at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court today (30 June) charged wounding with intent [in relation to the 22-year-old who sustained stab wounds] and affray.

Morgan was remanded into custody and will next appear at Nottingham Crown Court on 28 July.

Detective Chief Inspector Claire Gould, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:

“Serious violence has absolutely no place in Nottingham city centre and we will always be relentless in our pursuit of those who use weapons to inflict any kind of injury.

“Since this incident, a team of detectives has been working tirelessly to establish the full circumstances and ensure those responsible are brought to justice.

“Whilst a suspect has been charged, I want to be really clear that our investigation into what happened is very much ongoing and, to this end, we still want to speak to anybody who may have additional information about this incident.
