Officers are investigating after a man died in a collision on the M1 motorway yesterday.
Shortly before 7pm on Thursday (27 August) police received a report of a pedestrian in the southbound carriageway close to junction 20.
Officers and colleagues from East Midlands Ambulance Service attended and found a man in the road with serious injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Enquiries conducted at the scene have established the man had been in collision with a lorry.
The road was closed for a number of hours and has since been reopened.
Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to contact Leicestershire Police on 101 quoting incident 532 of 27 August.
Given the man had been in prior contact with police, a referral is being made to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC).
