A suspect has appeared in court after police responded to reports a man had brandished a knife in the street.
Officers were called to Bridlington Street, Hyson Green, Nottingham, around 12.20am on Tuesday (21 October) and detained a man.
A separate report was received from a woman living nearby who said she had been threatened by a man and followed to her home.
A pane of glass on her front door was also smashed.
Officers carried out further searches of the area and located a large knife hidden behind a wheelie bin.
Bogdan Firon, aged 26, of Birkin Avenue, Nottingham, was charged with possession of a knife in a public place and affray.
He appeared at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday (22 October) and will next appear at Nottingham Crown Court on 22 November 2025.
Detective Constable Melissa Starmer, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:
“Any report of a knife being wielded in the street will be met with a firm response.
“In this instance we were able to quickly locate and arrest a suspect who has now appeared before magistrates charged with the very serious offence of knife possession in public.
“We are always grateful to members of the public for being vigilant and observant around knife crime and reporting suspected weapons carriers to us.”
