Man in his 70s ‘violently assaulted’ in broad daylight outside Nottingham city restaurant

Police are appealing for witnessed after a man in his seventies was violently assaulted outside a city centre restaurant.

Officers were called to Milton Street, Nottingham, before 4.45pm yesterday (Wednesday) evening when the man was attacked near the KFC restaurant.

The victim suffered cuts and bruising during the assault, which officers believe was witnessed by members of the public.

A 38-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of assault and remains in police custody.

Detective Sergeant Steve Willetts, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “This was a vicious and unprovoked attack carried out in a busy city-centre street close to rush hour. Our investigation into what happened is continuing and we urgently want to speak to anyone who saw what happened.

“I am determined that we get to the bottom of this and bring whoever was responsible to justice. So if you saw any part of this incident please get in touch with us as soon as possible. What you saw or heard may prove absolutely vital in this investigation.”

Anyone with information is asked to call 101 immediately quoting incident 496 of 19 October 2022.
