Man jailed for persistent anti-social behaviour and theft

A man has been jailed after breaking the conditions of a criminal behaviour order.

Shane Hulls, 32, was originally handed the order following persistent acts of anti-social behaviour.

This included stealing from two cars and aggressive begging around Retford, in Bassetlaw.

Hulls, of no fixed address, was banned from entering Retford town centre for two years as part of the criminal behaviour order.

He was also given a 12-month community order and ordered to pay compensation for the offences.
Hulls was found to have broken the conditions of his criminal behaviour order on Sunday (17 April 2022).

Appearing before Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Monday (18 April 2022), Hulls was handed a 12-week custodial sentence.

Sergeant Sam Pearson, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “We have received numerous complaints from members of the public about Hulls’ actions.

“Tackling anti-social behaviour is a key priority within neighbourhood policing as a whole and can take up large portions of officers’ time and resources.

“With this in mind, we’re extremely pleased to see that the courts have taken Hulls’ offending seriously and have handed him a custodial sentence.”
