Pupils at Abbey Road Primary School and Pierrepont Gamston Primary School were treated to an unforgettable literacy-themed experience last week as the renowned MC Grammar visited both schools for a day of music, movement, and reading inspiration.
MC Grammar – formerly a primary school teacher himself – has become a national sensation for turning grammar, reading, and literacy into exciting, high-energy rap performances.
Having appeared on major stages across the country, including the hugely popular Young Voices concerts, he now tours schools nationwide to spark a love of reading in children through rhythm, rhyme, and storytelling.

During his visits, each year group worked on its very own bespoke reading rap, while the whole school joined together to perform a catchy, energising track all about… NOUNS!
The halls of both Abbey Road and Pierrepont Gamston were soon filled with the sound of pupils rapping proudly about people, places, and things – proving that grammar really can be fun.

But the excitement didn’t stop there. The day also featured lively dance-offs, enthusiastic teacher rap battles, and plenty of laughter as MC Grammar encouraged everyone – staff included – to get involved. Both schools described the experience as inspiring, uplifting, and a brilliant way to celebrate the joy of reading.
A massive thank you goes to the Abbey Road HSA and the Pierrepont Gamston PTA, whose generous funding made this memorable event possible. Their support ensured that every child had the chance to learn, perform, and discover that reading and grammar can be just as exciting as any chart-topping track.
MC Grammar’s visit will no doubt leave a lasting impression on both school communities, with children continuing to rap, read, and rhyme long after the final beat dropped.
