On Sunday 16th April 2023 officers from Mansfield South Neighborhood Policing Team conducted Operation Nebraska patrols as part of an ongoing operation to tackle illegal off-roading in the Mansfield area.
Police said:
‘Operation Nebraska was created following concerns from members of the public due to rising cases of uninsured and unroadworthy vehicles travelling over the public highways in order to access a patch of wasteland informally known as The Desert.
‘Further to this, concerns were raised in relation to a rise in criminal damage to farmland, barriers and near misses with members of the public using the local nature trails.
‘As a result of the day, two vehicles were seized, and other vehicles were also stopped and given words of advice in relation to the use of the Desert.’
