Fun singing sessions for adults with learning difficulties in Nottinghamshire have been given a vital cash boost.
Regulars attending the Warthog Live music events in Lowdham and Gunthorpe donated £1,262 for the Open Voices programme run by Nottingham-based charity Music for Everyone (MfE).
The music charity’s weekly sessions allow adults with learning difficulties to become part of a welcoming social group through the enjoyment of singing in a relaxed, friendly and fun environment. They are held in West Bridgford, Beeston, Sherwood and at Portland College, Mansfield.
Music for Everyone’s chair of trustees John Hess and fellow trustee Josie Tanvir went to Warthog’s first concert of its new season at Lowdham Village Hall to receive the donation from Warthog’s promoter Penny Tolley.
“We were so impressed by the benefits and work of ‘Open Voices’ that it inspired our audience. We raised the money when our regulars bought a tea or coffee and biscuits during the concert break. There were also some very generous donations.,” said Warthog’s Penny Tolley.
Music for Everyone’s chair of trustees John Hess told the Warthog audience how grateful MfE and ‘Open Voices’ were for their generosity.
“Our ‘Open Voices’ sessions encourage well-being and the singing brings huge health benefits and a big feel-good factor. The donation will help MfE to continue this important work,” John added.
Warthog Live’s next event at Lowdham Villege Hall is on Friday September 13th, with singer Cara Dillon.
