Dog owners in the Nottinghamshire village of Caythorpe may get a dedicated field for their dogs to exercise in after an application for a dog field was put forward.
The application was submitted to Newark and Sherwood District Council yesterday (October 16) for the proposed facility on land behind numbers 110 and 112 Caythorpe Road, Caythorpe.
If approved, dog walkers will be able to book one-hour sessions through an online booking system to walk and exercise their pets in the field.
Only people who pre-book their walking sessions would be able to use the site, meaning the land wouldn’t become overcrowded and would have limited use.
The dog walking site would be secured with an eight-foot wire fence to protect pets.
Planning documents say: “This service will particularly appeal to those owners who have dogs which may be nervous/antisocial, have poor recall, a disability or may be an area for initial puppy training away from other dogs.”
The opening hours for booking sessions would run between 8am and 6pm in the lighter months, reducing to 4pm in the winter.
For residents or visitors who would access the field, there would be an area capable of safely fitting three cars.
Papers say an option to book longer sessions will be available.
The land currently acts as unused paddocks, with the previous owners renting the land out for the last time in 2021.
The appearance of the site will remain unchanged with no permanent development.
The district council will decide on this application at a later date.
