Bus passengers in Nottingham are being warned of multiple diversions, stop closures and delays across the network this week as a series of roadworks and infrastructure projects continue.
The most immediate impact comes from works by Severn Trent Water on Sherwood Rise, near the junction with Gregory Boulevard, running from Sunday 5 April to Sunday 12 April. During this period, Yellow line services 68/A, 69/A, 70/B and 71/B are diverting all day. Buses heading towards Bulwell will remain on Mansfield Road via Goose Fair Island before looping through Hucknall Road, Haydn Road and Nottingham Road. Services towards the city will follow a reverse diversion via Haydn Road and Hucknall Road before rejoining Mansfield Road. All stops on diversion routes will be served on request.
Elsewhere, gas works on the A60 at Redhill, near Leapool roundabout, are continuing until 10 April and are expected to cause significant delays, particularly affecting Purple 87 services due to congestion on Mansfield Road towards Daybrook.
A major closure is also in place on Woodborough Road at Mapperley Rise until the afternoon of Friday 10 April. This is resulting in diversions and disruption to Sky Blue 60 and 61 services, with no buses able to serve Woodborough Road between The Wells Road Top and the city centre. Alternative routes are in place via Mansfield Road, Woodthorpe Drive and The Wells Road depending on direction of travel. A large number of stops along Woodborough Road and surrounding streets are currently out of service.
Further disruption is being caused by gas works on Alford Road, where stops at Leahurst Road are closed in both directions, affecting services 5, 5A and 6.
In the west of the city, Westleigh Road remains closed until 2 May for utility works, affecting Turquoise 77C and 78 services. Buses are diverting via Bradfield Road, Strelley Road and Moor Road or Helston Drive depending on direction, with all stops on diversion routes served.
Ongoing works in Bingham on Chapel Lane are continuing to delay Pathfinder 90, alongside long-term disruption on the A52 between Radcliffe-on-Trent and Gamston, where Cadent Gas works remain in place until 19 April. These works have led to heavy traffic in surrounding areas including Tollerton and Cotgrave, with knock-on delays also affecting service 11.
Roadworks on Thane Road are also causing delays to Navy 49, 49A and 49X services, with Bull Close Road stops closed, while at City Hospital, Linden Way remains shut until the end of May, requiring Blue 40 and 40X services to divert via alternative campus access points.
National Highways continues its major reconstruction of the A52 Derby Road between QMC and Priory roundabouts, with one-way traffic in place until late spring. This is affecting a wide range of services including Orange 35 and 36, which are diverting away from the city via Clifton Boulevard and University Boulevard, with wider delays across several routes.
Additional overnight closures will take place on the A52 Derby Road between 7 and 10 April (8pm to 6am), requiring further diversions on Orange 35, 35B and 36 services. Similarly, overnight works at Carey Road crossings between 7 and 10 April (10.15pm to 5.45am) will see Brown 17 divert via Bestwood Road and Hucknall Lane.
Further overnight closures on the A52 between Gamston and Radcliffe-on-Trent from 8 to 13 April will affect Pathfinder 90 services towards Newark, which will divert via Cotgrave and the A46, with no stops served along the diversion route.
In Southwell, Westgate will be closed overnight on 9 and 10 April, affecting Pathfinder 26 and N26 services, while works in the Silverdale area on 11 April will mean Navy 48 and 48X are unable to serve Silverdale stops from 8pm until the end of service.
Passengers are also being advised of advance disruption on Sunday 19 April, when the Vaisakhi Nagar Kirtan procession will take place across north Nottingham. This will lead to diversions and delays on multiple routes including Yellow, Brown, Lime and Purple lines, with some services unable to serve stops on Nottingham Road, Sherwood Rise and surrounding areas during the procession.
Nottingham City Transport has advised passengers to allow extra time for journeys and check the latest updates before travelling, with all diversionary stops generally available on request unless otherwise stated.
