Base 51, a charity that supports over one thousand 11-25 year olds in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire every year has received a donation of £7,000 from the Morrisons Foundation.
The grant from the charitable arm of the supermarket has enabled new activity equipment and furniture for the youth club, as well as covering the cost of redecorating and providing meals for the young people who attend the facility.
Verity Mitchell, Head of Fundraising at Base 51 said:
“We are thrilled to receive a grant from Morrisons that will allow us to purchase new furniture for our youth club and continue to provide hot meals for young people in Nottingham.
“Our youth club is open four nights a week, offering a safe, warm and inclusive space for young people to hang out.
“When young people come to the youth club, not only are they off the streets (where they are vulnerable to gangs, exploitation and violence) but they can also build relationships with our youth workers and gain additional support – for example through our counselling or specialist trauma support services.”
David Scott, Morrisons Foundation Trustee said:
“It’s great that the Foundation has been able to offer this support to provide activities, meals and support to young members of our local community.
“The work Base 51 does to help our youth is inspiring and I’m delighted that we’ve been able to help.”
