Nottinghamshire Christmas tree recycling for Nottingham Hospitals Charity

Nottingham Hospitals Charity’s popular Christmas tree recycling scheme is back for its fourth year.

The scheme is a great way to do something green, recycle your old Christmas tree, and help Nottingham’s NHS hospitals at the same time.

People from across Nottinghamshire can have their real Christmas trees collected and recycled for a donation from just £10, which will go towards supporting staff and patients at Nottingham’s NHS hospitals.

People from most postcodes across Nottinghamshire can sign up for the scheme online now, with tree collections taking place from Saturday 6th January, 2024.

Last year volunteers collected over 1,100 trees, and more than £16,000 was raised for Nottingham Hospitals Charity.

Louise Knight, Head of Fundraising at Nottingham Hospitals Charity, said: “We’re so pleased that our popular Christmas tree recycling scheme is back for its fourth year. Each year we’ve collected more trees and raised even more money than the previous year, and we hope to do the same again!

“It’s a great opportunity for people across Nottinghamshire to get rid of their unwanted trees in an environmentally-friendly way, as all the trees are recycled here in Nottingham and the resulting chippings used locally. It’s also a really quick, easy and affordable way to dispose of your tree once the festive period is over – and all in aid of an important local cause.”

All trees are collected and taken for recycling by volunteers from local businesses and community groups, who are all giving their time for free to help raise money for Nottingham’s NHS hospitals.

Money raised through the scheme will benefit patients and staff at the City Hospital, Queen’s Medical Centre, Nottingham Children’s Hospital and Ropewalk House Hearing Centre, by providing added extras such as specialist equipment, enhancements to ward environments, medical research and staff wellbeing programmes.
