A Newark sex offender who shared disturbing images and videos of children online has been jailed.
Detectives were alerted in February 2023 that an indecent video had been uploaded using an internet account linked to Adam Kirsopp.
When officers raided Kirsopp’s home in Fernwood, Newark, they seized his mobile phone and discovered the 27-year-old had been distributing a number of indecent images and videos.
Some of the images were graded as category A – depicting the most serious offences that can be committed against children.
Also found on Kirsopp’s devices were social media chats where he and others role-played and fantasized about the sexual abuse of children.
Kirsopp was jailed for two years and two months when he appeared at Nottingham Crown Court for sentencing on Thursday (18 July).
He was also handed a sexual harm prevention order for 10 years which will closely restrict his behaviour once released.
Kirsopp pleaded guilty to three counts of making an indecent photograph of a child, one count of distributing an indecent photograph of a child and one count of possessing an extreme pornographic image.
Detective Constable Tom Nuttall, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:
“During interviews Kirsopp denied having a sexual interest in children but we did not believe him and I’m pleased that the judge didn’t either.
“Our investigation showed he had shared disturbing and upsetting material and chatted online about abusing children.
“Behind every one of the depraved images and videos we found on his phone are real children who must live with the physical and emotional scars of what has happened to them.
“Every time someone views or downloads this kind of material they perpetuate this cruel and sadistic abuse.
“I hope this case serves as a warning to others about the potential consequences of viewing this material.”
