Nottinghamshire traffic and travel updates: Monday 2 November

New roadworks begin in West Bridgford and Nottingham this morning, while overnight closures are scheduled on the A52 and M1.

Nottingham City Transport has confirmed a week-long diversion affecting Blue 39, and rail passengers face several timetable alterations.

The latest National Highways incident information, updated at 6 am, reports no major incidents on the M1, A1, A46 or A52.

However, several significant restrictions are planned for tonight, including an A52 closure between Whatton and Bottesford and the closure of both northbound slip roads at M1 junction 26.

In Nottingham, Maid Marian Way remains subject to severe congestion warnings because of the Broad Marsh demolition works.

A new closure on Thorneywood Mount began at 04:30, while roadworks on Radcliffe Road in West Bridgford are scheduled to start at 09:30.

Roads and motorways

M1 junction 26 – overnight slip-road closures tonight

Two significant restrictions are scheduled at junction 26, serving Nottingham and Nuthall.

The northbound entry and exit slip roads are both listed for closure between 20:00 tonight and 06:00 on Tuesday 3 November.

The closures are part of planned maintenance works.

Diversions will use the National Highways and local authority road networks.

The restrictions are not expected to affect the normal Monday morning commute but will be relevant to motorists travelling through the area this evening.

A1 and A46

The latest National Highways information also reports no major incidents on the A1 or A46 at 06:06.

On the A1, the overnight northbound closure between Stamford and Harlaxton was scheduled to finish at 06:00 this morning.

The closure formed part of the resurfacing programme between Foston and Little Ponton.

On the A46, no full closure is scheduled tonight.

However, northbound slip-road closures are planned at Hill Holt on Tuesday 3 November between 09:30 and 15:30.

Both the entry and exit slip roads are listed as affected.

A52 – overnight closure between Whatton and Bottesford

The A52 remains one of the main roads affected by planned maintenance this week.

National Highways is carrying out a programme of work between Bingham and Barrowby, including drainage improvements, safety barrier inspections, vegetation clearance and road sweeping.

The original published programme scheduled the next phase between Bottesford and Barrowby to begin on Tuesday 3 November.

However, the latest National Highways closure information lists an additional overnight closure between Whatton and Bottesford tonight, Monday 2 November.

The restriction is scheduled in both directions between 20:00 and 06:00.

Motorists should follow the signed diversion, which uses the A46 and A1 via Newark.

The original programme also confirms that lay-bys between Bingham and Barrowby remain closed continuously until 06:00 on Saturday 7 November.

The programme is weather-dependent and can change at short notice.

A52 – further major closures on Tuesday

Additional overnight restrictions are currently scheduled for Tuesday 3 November.

These include a closure of the A52 in both directions between Wheatcroft Roundabout and Gamston Roundabout.

The latest closure listing gives the working hours as 20:00 to 06:00.

A separate westbound closure is also listed between Bardills Roundabout and M1 junction 25 during the same period.

The A52 between Bottesford and Barrowby is also scheduled to close overnight from Tuesday.

These are planned restrictions rather than active Monday morning closures.

West Bridgford – Radcliffe Road traffic lights begin today

One of the most significant new local roadworks schemes begins this morning.

Temporary two-way traffic lights are scheduled on Radcliffe Road near Abbey Road from 09:30 today.

The restrictions are part of Nottinghamshire County Council’s programme to improve pedestrian and cycling facilities.

The work includes changes to footpaths, cycle routes, street furniture and traffic signals.

The lights are scheduled to operate between 09:30 and 15:30, with the programme continuing until Friday 4 December.

NCT has warned that Green 12 and Pathfinder 90 could experience delays.

The restrictions could affect journeys between West Bridgford, Gamston and the A52. West Bridgford Wire

Pavilion Road – closure continues

A short section of Pavilion Road in West Bridgford remains closed.

The restriction affects the first 25 metres from London Road.

The closure began on 25 October to make a road defect safe while investigations take place.

It is scheduled to remain in place until 17:00 on Friday 6 November.

A signed diversion is provided.

Musters Road – carriageway repairs

Carriageway repairs begin today on Musters Road between Bridgford Road and Rectory Road.

The works are scheduled between 09:00 and 15:30 daily from Monday 2 to Wednesday 4 November.

Temporary traffic lights or stop/go boards will be used depending on the location of the work.

Compton Acres – final scheduled day

Three-way temporary traffic lights are scheduled at the junction of Compton Acres and Landmere Lane.

The restrictions operate between 09:00 and 15:30 today, which is the advertised final day of the current carriageway repair programme.

A60 Nottingham Knight – daytime traffic lights

Further restrictions are scheduled on the A60 Loughborough Road beside Nottingham Knight Roundabout.

Two-way temporary traffic lights are due to operate between 09:00 and 16:00 each weekday from Monday 2 to Friday 6 November.

The restrictions form part of the National Highways junction improvement programme.

The location is a busy route for motorists travelling between Ruddington, West Bridgford, Nottingham and the A52.

Delays are possible while the temporary lights are operating.

Nottingham – Maid Marian Way congestion continues

Demolition of the former Broad Marsh NCP car park remains a significant source of disruption in Nottingham city centre.

Nottingham City Transport continues to warn that the works have caused severe congestion across the city centre and surrounding roads.

The operator’s current service notice states that buses are experiencing severe delays and short-notice cancellations.

This is a continuing network warning rather than confirmation that every individual service is delayed this morning.

City-centre bus diversions

The temporary stopping arrangements remain in operation.

Turquoise 77/C, 78/A/B and 79/B services travel via Talbot Street, Shakespeare Street and North Church Street before terminating on Burton Street alongside The Cornerhouse.

Outbound journeys towards Strelley and Bulwell depart from Burton Street stop T7.

Navy 1, 4 and 48/A, together with Pathfinder 90, are not serving Maid Marian Way stop M5 towards the city centre.

Red 45/B passengers should use stop M2 outside Nottingham Lighting Centre instead of the stop near The Salutation.

The arrangements will remain throughout the demolition works.
