Nottinghamshire weather for Saturday 17 January

Saturday will be a mostly cloudy and cool day across Nottinghamshire, with temperatures remaining below double figures throughout and only limited brighter spells developing later in the day.

Early morning
The day will begin overcast, with cloud covering widespread from first light. There is a moderate chance of light rain or drizzle during the early morning hours, with probabilities highest around dawn before easing later in the morning. Temperatures will start at around 5°C to 6°C, feeling cool in a light south-easterly breeze. Winds will generally be gentle, around 5 mph, with gusts close to 10 to 11 mph at times.

Midday
Cloudy conditions will continue through late morning into midday, though rainfall chances will reduce compared to earlier. Any lingering drizzle should be light and patchy. Temperatures will slowly lift to around 8°C by midday, with winds remaining from the south-east at around 5 mph. It will still feel cool, especially in shaded areas, with limited brightness breaking through the cloud.

Afternoon
During the afternoon, conditions are expected to become a little brighter, with occasional sunny intervals developing, particularly from early to mid-afternoon. Cloud will remain the dominant feature, but the risk of rain will stay relatively low. Temperatures will peak at around 9°C, making it the mildest part of the day. South-easterly winds will continue at 5 to 6 mph, with gusts reaching around 13 mph in exposed areas.

Evening
As evening approaches, cloud cover will thicken again, with skies becoming overcast. Rain chances will remain low, generally below 10 per cent, and most areas should stay dry. Temperatures will gradually fall from around 7°C early in the evening to closer to 6°C by late evening. Winds will ease slightly, remaining light from the east to south-east, making for a cool but settled end to the day.
