Tuesday January 27 is expected to be a very wet and windy start across Nottinghamshire, with heavy rain during the morning gradually easing through the afternoon.
Early morning
The day will begin with widespread heavy rain, with the likelihood of rainfall very high through the early hours and morning. Rain probabilities are above 95 per cent until late morning, with persistent showers expected. Temperatures will be around 0°C to 1°C at first, rising to around 5°C to 6°C by mid-morning. Strong east-south-easterly winds of around 17 to 19 mph, with gusts approaching 38 to 40 mph, will make conditions feel raw and blustery.
Midday
By late morning and into midday, rain will begin to ease in intensity, though showers will still be likely. Rain probabilities fall to around 60 per cent by midday. Temperatures will hold at around 6°C. Winds will remain brisk from the south-east at around 14 to 16 mph, with gusts still near 30 mph.
Afternoon
The afternoon will see a gradual improvement, with rain becoming more intermittent and cloud starting to break at times. Rain chances drop to around 30 per cent through mid to late afternoon. Temperatures will rise slightly to around 7°C to 8°C. Winds will slowly ease but remain moderate from the south-east at around 10 to 12 mph.
Evening
During the evening, conditions will turn largely dry, with cloud breaking to give clearer spells. Rain chances fall to below 10 per cent later in the evening. Temperatures will gradually drop from around 7°C to 5°C by late evening. Winds will continue to ease, shifting more southerly and falling to around 8 to 10 mph, bringing a calmer and cooler end to the day.
