East Midlands Railway announced the incident at 10:28 am Saturday 9 December.
EMR said:
‘We are sad to report that a person has been hit by a train.
‘This has occurred between Newark Castle and Nottingham is disrupting our trains on the Grimsby/Lincoln/Nottingham/Leicester and the Newark Castle/Derby/Crewe route
Emergency services are on site managing the incident.’
‘Trains will not be able to run in both directions between Lincoln Central and Nottingham, until the lines have reopened.
‘At present we are expecting the line to re-open in the next 2 hours. As soon as the line is open again, our priority will be to get trains running to their advertised times again. We expect our advertised timetable to resume on the affected routes by 13:00.’
