East Midlands Railway announced the incident on Sunday morning.
EMR said:
‘Line closed between Aslockton and Grantham.
‘We are sad to report that a person has been hit by a train. This has occurred between Aslockton and Grantham and is disrupting our trains on the Nottingham/Skegness and the Liverpool/Nottingham/Norwich route.
‘Emergency services are en-route to manage the incident. We don’t currently have an estimated time of arrival.
‘Trains running through the area in both directions cannot run
‘At present we are expecting the line to re-open in the next 3 hours. As soon as the line is open again, our priority will be to get trains running to their advertised times again. We expect our advertised timetable to resume on the affected routes by 1500.’
