Pictures & Video: Lorry load of cooking oil overturns on Melton Road Tollerton

The vehicle is thought to have clipped the bridge and taken evasive action leading to it overturning.

At noon two fire crews from Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service alongside Nottinghamshire Police officers were at the scene manually unloading boxes of cooking oil from the articulated curtain-sider.

Fire crews also have the task of removing cooking oil and some diesel that was spilled from the lorry as it tipped over.

The road remains closed both ways. It’s likely to be for some time as a complex recovery takes place.

Traffic is heavy in the area not made easier by the four-way traffic lights at Kirk Lane – Loughborough Road junction at Ruddington.
