A Rushcliffe secondary school hopes to build another teaching block on its site as part of plans to provide space for 150 extra pupils.
An application has been sent to Rushcliffe Borough Council for a new two-storey detached building at the South Nottinghamshire Academy in Glebe Lane, Radcliffe On Trent.
The application states that the proposed development would increase the number of employees at the school from 105 to 115.
Last year, plans were approved by Nottinghamshire County Council to expand the school with 150 new places to meet increasing demand for secondary school places in the area over the next ten years.
The Policy Committee gave the proposal the green light in July 2020, while also agreeing to fund feasibility studies and site surveys for an enlargement.
Applicant Redhill Academy Trust said the proposed building site is currently a grassed area at the school.
Plans drawn up by Nottingham firm CPMG Architects shows that the walls will be made from brick and white render to match the existing school buildings.
The new block would be open from 8am to 4pm Monday to Friday.
South Nottinghamshire Academy is rated ‘good’ by Ofsted.
