Plans approved for new energy efficient council homes in Nottingham

Planning permission for 24 new eco council houses for Nottingham City Council has been granted.

These new homes are to be built on the site of a demolished care home at the junction of Woodborough Road and St Ann’s Way in Nottingham.

This new scheme has been designed to provide affordable housing with low running costs. They will be fully electric, including greater levels of insulation and PV panels with battery packs to store unused electricity.

There will be a total of 24 new affordable rental homes, with a combination of 15 two and three-bedroom terraced houses and nine one-bedroom flats. All these new homes will be owned and managed by Nottingham City Council.

Nottingham City Council’s Portfolio Holder for Housing & Human Resources, Cllr Toby Neal, said: “These new homes go towards meeting our overall target of 1,000 new affordable homes for local families. Their excellent environmental credentials not only contribute towards our ambition to be a carbon neutral city by 2028 but will help to keep tenants’ bills down.”
