Plans have been submitted to turn a former yoga studio in Bingham town centre into a micropub.
Red Squirrel Taverns Limited is seeking permission to change the use of 37 Long Acre from commercial premises to a drinking establishment.
The property is currently empty, having most recently been used as a yoga studio, according to documents submitted to Rushcliffe Borough Council.
Under the plans, a bar would be built on the ground floor alongside an accessible toilet, customer seating and refrigeration equipment.
An existing cellar would be used to hold beer barrels, coolers and other dispensing equipment, while the first floor would provide an additional seating area for customers.
The applicant said no structural changes would be made to the cellar or first floor and no alterations are proposed to the outside of the building.
Proposed opening hours are from 3pm until 10.30pm from Monday to Friday and from midday until 11.30pm on Saturdays, Sundays and bank holidays.
The application states that the business would initially employ one part-time member of staff. Commercial arrangements would be made for the collection of general and recyclable waste if permission is granted.
The premises previously received planning permission in 2018 for a juice bar and coffee shop on the ground floor, with a yoga studio above.
The latest application has been made by Red Squirrel Taverns Limited, a Staffordshire-registered company established in April 2026 whose stated business activity is operating public houses and bars.
No decision has yet been made. The standard public consultation period runs until Tuesday 22 September, while the council’s planning register lists a determination deadline of Thursday 22 October.
