Plungar murder: Victim died of a gunshot wound, say police

The investigation into the death of a man who was found deceased in a field in Plungar is continuing.

Police were called to the scene, off Highgate Lane, at 3.30pm last Tuesday (7 November) following the discovery of a man’s body. It was reported the man, who has since been identified as 46-year-old Timothy Macdonald, was believed to have suffered a head injury and his death is being treated as suspicious.

A post mortem examination has since determined that Mr Macdonald’s cause of death was a gunshot wound injury, pending further tests.

Senior Investigating Officer, Detective Inspector David Greenhalgh, from the East Midlands Special Operations Unit (EMSOU), said: “Our enquiries in this investigation remain ongoing and we continue to establish the full circumstances of this incident.

“Support continues to be provided to Mr Macdonald’s family and we continue to appeal to anyone with any information who has not yet spoken to us to make contact.
