Police continue to monitor A453 and Netherfield to tackle anti-social driving

Officers from Rushcliffe Neighbourhood Policing team have been working with neighbouring areas and forces around the issue of anti-social and dangerous driving on weekend evenings.

Police say that with a red route in place around Castle Donington and one approved for parts of the A453.

Public Spaces Protection Orders in Castle Donington and Netherfield to prevent car cruising it is only a matter of time before these solutions are extended to other areas if the dangerous and anti-social driving continues.

A spokesperson said:

‘For those who continue to drive on public highways or off road without the permission of land owners there is S59 of Police Reform Act 2002 which allows officers to issue a 12-month warning to both the driver and the vehicle which could lead to the vehicle being seized.

‘If you or your vehicle receive such a warning you may have to disclose this to your insurance company and to anyone you sell the car to while the warning is still in place as well as potentially being prosecuted for driving without due care and attention.’
