A suspected burglar was chased down the street and detained by a police dog.
PD Max and his handler were called to the Lillington Road industrial estate in Bulwell shortly after 1am this morning (Wednesday) after a break-in was reported.
Two suspects fled along the road when challenged.
PD Max, a five-year-old German Shepherd, quickly made up ground on one of the suspects and pulled him to the ground.
A 50-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of burglary and remains in police custody.
Several large planks of wood were recovered from the scene and a second suspect is being hunted by police.
Sergeant Nick Dachtler, of Nottinghamshire Police’s dog unit, said:
“This is another good example of what general purpose police dogs like Max can achieve when paired with an experienced handler.
“Max is extremely quick over the ground, and I can’t imagine there’s anyone out there who could outrun him.
“I am pleased that in this case we were able to recover what we believe to be stolen property and bring a suspect into custody.”
