An investigation is underway and detectives are appealing for information after a stabbing in Newark.
Police were called to Parliament Street around 7.20pm on Monday (22 September) following reports a man in his 40s had been injured outside a property.
The victim was taken to hospital with injuries which are not currently believed to be life-altering or life-threatening in nature.
A cordon remains in place as evidence is gathered.
Detectives are conducting an extensive trawl of CCTV footage in the area and carrying out other local inquiries.
Detective Sergeant James Hirst, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:
“Our investigation is at an early stage and we are working hard to establish exactly what happened.
“Officers are working in the area to gather evidence and we would also like to speak to any witnesses who have yet to come forward.
“If you saw this incident or anything at all suspicious in the moments before and after we would like to hear from you.
“Clearly this will have caused concern in the community, so there will be an increased police presence in the area today.
“We believe, however, that this was an isolated incident involving people who are known to each other.”
Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101 quoting incident 687 of 22 September 2025. Reports can also be made anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
