Police name cyclist who died in Nottinghamshire collision

A suspect has appeared in court after a cyclist died in a road traffic collision in Treswell.

Emergency services were called to the Cottam Road junction with Rampton Road at 9.20am on Sunday 28 January.

Fifty-seven-year-old Robert Noble, from Gainsborough, sustained a serious injury and was pronounced dead at the scene.

His family are now being supported by specially trained officers.

A 25-year-old man has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving, failing to stop after a road traffic collision, and driving whilst under the influence of alcohol.

The man from Retford, appeared at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court today and was released on bail with conditions.

He is due to appear at Nottingham Crown Court on 27 February 2024.

Sergeant Craig Luckett, of Nottinghamshire Police’s serious collision investigation unit, said: “This was a tragic incident that resulted in a man’s death.

“We have been working hard to understand what happened on Sunday morning and I am pleased we have now been able to charge a suspect.

“Our investigation will now carry on as we continue to support the victim’s family at this very difficult time.”
