Police seize knife and drugs in Nottingham petrol station stop

Police seized a knife and drugs after blocking in a suspicious vehicle at a petrol station.

The car, which checks showed as being linked to suspected vehicle crime, was spotted by operational support road crime team officers on patrol in Valley Road, Nottingham.

When it pulled into a service station in Nuthall Road, around 12.30am on Monday (8 September), officers took the opportunity to block it in and detained three suspects who were inside.

They then found a rucksack inside the vehicle which contained a large knife and deal bags of cannabis. Officers from the road crime team also seized a number of mobile phones and cash.

Two 19-year-old men and a 17-year-old boy were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply a Class B drug and possession of a knife in a public place.

Sergeant Dave Schooling, of the road crime team, said:

“As a team our efforts are geared around preventing Nottinghamshire’s road network being used by criminals.

“This incident saw officers identify a vehicle of interest and take the opportunity to safely block it in and carry out searches.

“We were also able to arrest three suspects and seize drugs and a potentially dangerous weapon. There is never any excuse for anyone to be driving around with a knife inside their vehicle.”
