Chief Inspector Kylie Davies, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:

“City centre officers are here for you 24 hours a day, and ready to respond at a moment’s notice.

“If you see anything suspicious or are concerned about crime, speak to them and they will help you.

“In this case, we’d like to thank the member of the public who alerted our officers to this matter so that swift action could be taken.

“We will not tolerate those who put themselves and others at risk by carrying weapons, as demonstrated by this arrest.”
