Residents on Ruffs Drive and Watnall Road, Hucknall are celebrating.
It comes after their local Councillor ‘forced’ Nottinghamshire County Council’s Highway’s bosses to agree to protect “…Hucknall’s most dangerous junction.”
Now the County Council has announced the plans for double-yellow lines in the Highway’s Maintenance programme for 2022/23 as part of a junction protection programme.
Councillor Dave Shaw, Ashfield Independent Councillor for Hucknall West has been campaigning with Ruffs Drive residents like John Evans for nearly two years.
They claimed in August 2020, that sorting it was a “David v Goliath battle.”
A delighted Councillor Shaw, a leading Hucknall road safety campaigner said:
“The junction of Ruffs Drive and Watnall Road is Hucknall’s most dangerous junction.
“This is made ten times worse with Sainbury’s Local making it an accident waiting to happen.
“I told residents that I needed to get into County Hall to solve the problem, got elected in May 2021 and we have delivered a great result.
“I made sorting this, one of my top priorities when asked.
“It just goes to show that people power can win the day.
“Working together, we can deliver results that make Hucknall a safer place to live and shop. I’d like to thank John Evans and his neighbours for working with me.
“I have asked transport bosses to get this work done as soon as possible.”
Nottinghamshire County Council will be releasing details of the scheme later in the year.
