One said: ‘Heard it from St Ann’s Well Road, never heard anything so loud!’
Another said: ‘I heard it up in Mapperley Park. Couldn’t see anything out of the window.’
Others heard it from University areas and Union Road.
‘Dunno if its the same thing, but when I used to live in the city every couple of years the incinerator place just off london Rd island would have to vent pressure quick and it would be a HUGE EXPLOSION sound.’
The last one may be correct, the district heating system has been vented before and created the same reaction among residents.
