Rushcliffe: Resident helps police after 30ft tree blocks road in West Leake overnight

Local police officers and members of the public were out during Storm Darragh dealing with a tree blown down on an unlit road.

Rushcliffe Police said:

‘The biggest one we dealt with overnight was 30ft tall – it had completely blocked a pitch-black road at West Leake, due to the council not being able to respond for many hours – police officers attended and cleared most of the branches but had to call upon a local resident to help with the main trunk which was to large to move.

‘Mr Johnson attended with his chainsaw and help remove the rest of the blockage making the road safe for people to use again.

‘Although this is not in the normal line of police work it was deemed necessary to avoid anyone being seriously hurt by colliding with the tree.’
