Two illegal knives were discovered after police searched the Sherwood home of a suspected thief.
A zombie knife and a ‘Rambo-style’ blade were found hidden in a chest of drawers by police.
Response officers stopped by the house in Longdale Road, Sherwood, after a theft suspect handed herself in.
That’s after more than £4,000 was reportedly stolen from an elderly woman, between April 2023 and August 2024.
A 43-year-old woman was identified as a suspect, with several unsuccessful attempts made to arrest her at her home.
She was detained on Wednesday (23 October) morning, with officers then making the decision to visit her address again.
While inside the property, officers conducted a search, which resulted in them finding a zombie knife and Rambo knife in the upstairs bedroom.
Under the Offensive Weapons Act, these types of knives are both now illegal to be kept in a private setting anywhere in the UK.
The woman was arrested on suspicion of theft and possessing an offensive weapon in a private place.
PC Arun Mohan, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:
“We’re pleased to have seized both these weapons and arrested a suspect.
“Changes to the Offensive Weapons Act were brought in recently that made storing a Rambo knife in a private place an offence, while zombie knives were already banned under this legislation.
“It’s important that anyone who owns these knives, along with offensive weapons like knuckledusters, curved swords, or extendable batons, hands them over to the police so they don’t get into trouble.
“The best way to do this is by dropping them off into one of the knife amnesty bins available all year-round inside our stations – there are four to choose from, including at Oxclose Lane Station in Bestwood.”
