A six-week programme of road and pedestrian improvement works has started at the junction of Trent Boulevard, Holme Road and Radcliffe Road.
Nottinghamshire County Council and Via East Midlands are carrying out the scheme, which is intended to improve safety for pedestrians and cyclists.
The works began on Monday 13 July and include widening the central pedestrian refuges and footpath at the Holme Road junction.
The existing traffic signals at the junction of Trent Boulevard and Radcliffe Road will also be replaced.
A full closure is in place at the Trent Boulevard junction with Holme Road and Radcliffe Road, meaning motorists cannot access Trent Boulevard from that direction.
Drivers are being advised to follow a diversion along Radcliffe Road and Rutland Road to reach Trent Boulevard.
Temporary traffic lights and off-peak lane closures will also be used on approaches to the junction on the A6520 Radcliffe Road and at the A6011 Radcliffe Road and Lady Bay Bridge junction.
The heron sculptures at the junction will be temporarily removed during the works before being reinstalled.
The scheme is being funded through Nottingham City Council’s successful bid to the Government’s Transforming Cities Fund.
It forms part of wider improvements in the area, including the recently opened Waterside Bridge over the River Trent, upgrades to riverside paths and the creation of a new connecting route to Holme Road.
